Here are some of my words of wisdom that I took with me through life applying it to every aspect of my life as should you with yours.

"And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high."

"And suddenly I realised that I was no longer driving the car consciously. I was driving it by a kind of instinct, only I was in a different dimension."

"Because in a split second, it's gone."

"Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose."

"Fear is exciting for me."

"I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's."

"I have no idols. I admire work, dedication and competence."

"If you have God on your side, everything becomes clear."

"Money is a strange business. People who haven't got it aim it strongly. People who have are full of troubles."

"My biggest error? Something that is to happen yet."

"These things bring you to reality as to how fragile you are; at the same moment you are doing something that nobody else is able to do. The same moment that you are seen as the best, the fastest and somebody that cannot be touched, you are enormously fragile."

"Racing, competing, it's in my blood. It's part of me, it's part of my life."
"The danger sensation is exciting. The challenge is to find new dangers."

"There are no small accidents on this circut"

"It's going to be a season with lots of accidents, and I'll risk saying that we'll be lucky if something really serious doesn't happen."

"I want to live fully, very intensely. I would never want to live partially, suffering from illness or injury. If I ever happen to have an accident that eventually costs my life, I hope it happens in one instant."

...and so it did.

28 years on and Senna's "breakthrough" formula one car is set to sell for £750,000. Take a look at this link for yourself and you will see why.

Happy Birthday Ayrton Senna , 52 today and gone 17 years but yet never forgotten!
In 1984 I tested for Formula One teams Williams,  McLaren, Brabham and Toleman. Despite having been given offers to join various teams I met certain hurdles along the way which affected the outcome of mine and others decision. Consequently, I joined Toleman, which at the time was a relatively new team.
That season I  made my debut at the Brazilian Grand Prix in Rio de Janeiro. During my second race at the South African Grand Prix I was hit with severe muscle spasims , they'd always get me when I was least expecting it but I was determent to win and so I did. That was the race where I won my first World Championship point. Two weeks later at the the Belgian Grand Prix the same thing happened. But then at the  San Marino Grand Prix with  a mix of tyre issues and a fuel pressure problems I failed to qualify , that was the first and last time in my career  I let it happen. Monaco Grand Prix was the first wet weather race that season, the rain was always my bestfriend it gave me something else , something more, something special. It gave me that little bit extra I  needed to win. Ultimatley I would say that was the race my real rivalry with Alain Prost began. I was catching Prost at 4 seconds per lap in that race. It was tough but I was determant and I finally passed Prost during the 32nd lap at the end of which the red flag was shown. However according to the rules, the positions counted were those from the last lap completed by every driver, lap 31, at which point Prost was still leading. That was also the race where I truley begain to realise politics and racing were one. Second place in that race was my first podium in Formula One. Later on that year I took two more podium finishes. Third at the British and Portuguese Grands Prix and placed 9th in the Drivers Championship with 13 points overall. It was around this time between formula one and other races when I started beating the big guys , the ones I had always looked up to that I caught myself saying "Now I know I can do it". Whenever I doubted myself after that I thought back to the faith I had in myself then and  fIind that I have in myself now

check out my race!.

When my career really kicked off was in 1981when I was 21. I moved to England to begin single-seater racing, it was a big step for me to leave my family and country behind but it was also a step worth taking. I won the RAC and Townsend-Thoreson Formula Ford 1600 Championships that year with the Van Diemen team. Despite this with the pressure I was under from my parents to take up a role in my family business I had my doubts  weather I would continue in motorsport racing and I returned to brazil. But then something brilliant happened I was given a sign , before leaving England I was offered to drive with a Formula Ford 2000 team for £10,000. I knew in my heart that this was something i had to do for myself  so much to my familys dismay I took the offer and  returned to live in England. If  I was going to do this for real I needed a name that would stand out, as 'Silva' is a very common Brazilian name and I had to have one that was different to others, one that people would remember and so I adopted my mother's maiden name 'Senna'. That year of I went on to win the 1982 British and European Formula Ford 2000 championships as 'Ayrton Senna'. In 1983 i realised things were getting serious when I not only drove with the British Formula Three Championship but won, it was the times when i was behind that made me fight harder. In November that year I met Teedy Yip, the man who made me. That season I celebrated with pride at the  Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix with Teddy's Toyota powered Theodore Racing Team.
